Dental cost help

Looking to undergo dental treatment but struggling to figure out how to pay for it?

Luckily, in the US, there are a few different options for dental cost help, as well as effective and affordable alternatives.

Here’s what you need to know.

Dental help with no insurance

You can get dental care and treatments in the US without insurance, however, you should be prepared for hidden bills and varying costs.

States have varying costs for everything from rent to groceries, and healthcare is no exception. If you have a friend in another state, don’t ask them about pricing, as their experience is likely to be greatly different from yours.

For example, the cost of common dental services in Manhattan is almost double that of Tampa, with annual cleaning costing around $114 in Tampa and $230 in Manhattan.

However, if you’re looking for cosmetic and transformative treatments, you can spend thousands of dollars improving your smile and confidence.

Help with dental bills

As even simple dental procedures can break the bank, there are a few options available to help make the process a bit more affordable.

Often purchased as part of medical insurance plans or a standalone policy, they help to cover the costs of maintaining healthy teeth and gums.

Most companies have a deductible, which is the minimum amount they’ll pay out for. For example, if your deductible is $300 but the treatment costs $150, you will be responsible for paying the full amount.

A copay is a fixed amount you pay for a covered health service, usually when you receive the service.

Coinsurance, on the other hand, is the percentage of costs you pay after meeting your deductible. Typically, coinsurance ranges from 20% to 80%, depending on your health insurance plan. For example, if your plan has a 20% coinsurance, the insurance company pays 80% of the covered costs, and you pay the remaining 20%.

Most dental policies have a yearly maximum threshold too, typically up to $2000 - this is the most the provider will pay. If patients reach this, they will be expected to pay 100% of any dental bills until their policy renews.

However, not all treatments are covered, especially cosmetic ones, leaving many patients unhappy with their smile - even if they have dental insurance.

Help with paying for dentures

When it comes to dentures, there are dental grant programs to cover up to 30% of the treatment. The total depends on the cost of your treatment and type of dentures, and the cost will be automatically deducted once you receive the treatment plan.

There are also schemes available for low-income adults, seniors, veterans and disabled people, giving them access to cheap dentures.

Affordable alternatives to dental treatments

Due to the rising costs of dental treatments and dental insurance premiums in the US, nearly 70 million adults and nearly 8 million children don’t have dental insurance (May 2024).

Luckily, there is a low-cost yet highly effective alternative available right here at instasmile.
